The Lamb
This is a unique, hand made, one of a kind item created from found natural fibres and organic elements. The driftwood is from a beach scavenge in Carmarthen sands (Wales) on a family holiday and grabbed me as it was the perfect centrepiece for a weaving. I had to drill through the wood and string the loom through these holes as I wanted it to be an integral part of the fabric. The seedpods are remnants of scavenging from my grandmother's garden in Uruguay many moons ago, where she taught me all things have value and their own kind of beauty. This work incorporates the natural and the up-cycled, the new and the ready made.
The art of weaving is a mindful craft that grounds and engages you and I hope to convey that sensory delight when you feel my work. I wanted to make something wonderfully rustic that people would want to reach out and touch, as a kind of antidote to online living!
