We never stop learning

Something for everyone

I was asked to make a series of videos on sustainable weaving for the MyStory Project on behalf of Hertfordshire Library Service which were released on YouTube at intervals throughout February 2024.

Are you planning an arts or social prescribing event?

Group art classes and individual art tuition

There are many reasons why people chose to attend or commission an art class. Perhaps you want to try something new or relax a little? Maybe it would just be good to bounce ideas off another creative mind or understand a part of yourself that's been hidden for a while. In any circumstance, getting in touch with your creative side can be a truly rewarding and enlightening experience, not to mention taking something specially handmade home with you at the end. Get in touch with me to discuss your requirements.

Maybe it's time for a little creative development?

I offer one to one tuition, group classes and bespoke participation makes: I work with you and for you in partnership so that WE produce an original piece of fine art or textile sculpture.

Participation makes are for people who've always wanted to create their own, high end, bespoke piece of wall or sculptural art but maybe have lacked the confidence or skill to have a go and need a nurturing creative partner to develop and harness that talent.

I also work with schools, museums and the charity sector to provide specialist arts and environment projects.

“What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours on a Thursday morning! Relaxing, calming and a lovely result at the end. More events like this please.”

BOOK VICTORIA

Group and individual weaving sessions

A typical small group weaving session lasts a minimum of 3 hours, where I provide a small loom (that will fit on your lap or desk), materials and a cuppa. You can expect to learn several techniques for hand weaving and will have a finished piece of wall art to take home with you.

A group session is aimed at 5 to 10 participants from 10yrs - 95yrs with fair dexterity, but no previous weaving experience is necessary. Prices start from £40 per person.

I also offer individual tuition in the studio starting at £100 for the same time.

What a treat! I really enjoyed a burst of creativity which was well prepared by Victoria. She had planned and organised her resources and used the space effectively giving clear instruction to the whole group."
Freya, sustainable weaving workshop participant.

Drawing, painting and observation

These classes are the backbone of any art practice. They are for individuals, small and large groups and will be tailored to your requirements and ability. I truly believe anyone can paint and draw given half the chance.

Typically, you can expect to learn about perspective, depth of field, ways of seeing and perceiving objects and colours and how to capture them within the chosen medium. Sessions can last anything from 1 hour to three hours (with a short break) depending on how much you wish to learn and practice. I usually provide some materials, but fees are dependent on the number of students, time and subject matter.

A 'chosen medium' is the kind of material you use to make your marks with, like pencil for example, or watercolour.

Sculpture, form and process

These classes are all about seeing and working three dimensionally.
How to walk around an object and re-create its form, or develop something entirely new, but entirely credible.

I'll help you to understand about perspective, shape, form, and density. Is it heavy? Is it light? How can it stand or sit independently without falling over?

These classes can cover a variety of mediums including clay, plaster, wire and recycled materials depending on your skill and confidence level.
